Changes to Inter-Library Loans

On the 1st of September, 2018, changes will be implemented to the inter-library loans system.

To deliver a more effective service to local communities, State and Public Libraries WA have made the following changes:-

There will be no inter-library loaning of:
  • ANY item purchased within the last 12 months
Regardless of age, the following items will no longer be available for inter-library loaning:
  • Junior
  • Young adult
  • DVDs
  • Audio
  • Multiple copies of books for book clubs

The abovementioned change applies to items not available for request within the One Library Network.

There are exceptions for people with special needs; including people with disabilities requiring particular formats, people who rely on our Home Delivery service, and for access to material in languages other than English for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD).

You may still have up to 4 inter-library loan requests on your library membership for items that are outside the above set criteria.

Bono : the rescue cat who helped me find my way home
by Helen Brown

Having survived a brush with cancer, Helen Brown, took stock of her comfortable suburban life and found it wanting. So when she was invited to visit New York, she seized the day and accepted.

There was a catch, however: would she foster a homeless cat during her stay? Visualising a dozy, sweet-natured snuggler, Helen agreed. But the cat she met in the Manhattan shelter was anything but dozy. Instead, Bono, as he was called, was wide-eyed and unpredictable, a bundle of nervous energy with a feisty attitude and punk haircut to boot.

After a shaky start, Helen and Bono began to get to know each other. And, as winter turned to spring, cat and woman explored new beginnings and past heartache, only to discover that, in the end, home is where the heart is, wherever that may be.
