Reaching the Summit Together

Bold steps toward quality cancer care

We are working in Tanzania because we believe that hope and dignity
are not commodities reserved to the global elite – they are
fundamental human rights, deserved by all.

Thanks to people like you, we are making progress on bringing quality cancer to the people of northern Tanzania. We created this new e-newsletter to help provide you regular updates on the current projects and other Foundation for Cancer Care in Tanzania news.

You can expect to see stories of the people benefiting from your support, along with news on events and other ways to get involved.
In fact, you'll see below that we have a new date for our annual event and we hope you can join us.

We would appreciate any feedback to ensure you find this news update helpful and relevant. Thank you for joining us!

With gratitude,

Phase II: Enhance Patient Care

With the support of so many of you, we completed the cancer care clinic and have served more than 700 patients in the 18 months since it opened. The clinic provided just over 500 infusion treatments and 5,500 consultations to people of northern Tanzania who previously had no access to this type of screening and care. The next important step to ensure access to quality cancer care requires a two-stage plan. The first stage includes building an in-patient ward to provide improved cancer-specific care for patients requiring longer treatment. The second stage expands that facility and adds a hostel that will provide shelter for patients and their families receiving treatment. Each step is critical in order to properly diagnose and provide cancer treatment that will save more lives.

A Parent's Love: Currently 96% percent of the known cancer cases in Tanzania receive no treatment. Without effective treatment, the patient dies.
