20 Weeks

20 weeks.

It's hard to believe.  I wasn't sure I could do 4 weeks.

But here it is, 20 weeks of this email.  And while we're keeping track, it's been 8 months of my printed monthly letter, "Spivey's Stories From Real Estate & Beyond".

When I first started this journey to write with a goal to inspire and inform, I really wasn't sure how long it would last.  After all, I'm not a writer.

What would I write about?  Would anyone care?  How could I find the time?  Questions that almost prevented me from even getting started.  I followed the writings of my friends/mentors across the country, Ryan Fletcher, Ryan France, and Eric Verdi.  I often found myself thinking there's no way I'll ever be able to write like them.

Finally I had enough of the excuses and just told myself to get started.

Then something happened.  People started responding with comments.  

"Thank you for writing this."

"I needed to hear that."

"I never thought about it that way."

"Thank you for sharing."

"Thank you for inspiring me to be better."

And many others.  Even after 20 weeks of this email and 8 months of my printed letter, I still find it hard to believe that something I write has an effect on someone.  But I'm so honored that it does.

I've also heard "Your emails and letters are great, but why do you write them?  Do you really write them yourself?  Shouldn't you be sending what most Realtors send; recipes, staging tips, and free house evaluations?".

My reply is simple.  I want people to know who I am, what I believe in, and what I stand for.

My business is based on RELATIONSHIPS.  Relationships are built on TRUST.

If you don't know me, how can you trust me with one of the most important financial decisions that you'll ever make?  You see, I'm a firm believer that TRUST IS EARNED.

That's why I spend hours on these emails and my monthly printed letter.  Sometimes with a little stress and frustration thrown in there.  Like I said, I'm not a writer.

But I am someone who wants you to who I really am.  Someone that believes in putting others first.  Not just in real estate with my clients, but also in life.

This is why I write.  I hope you continue to enjoy and walk this journey with me.
