An appetite for destruction: Just how many species will a lionfish eat?

You would show off too if you looked like this.
Any diver in the Caribbean can tell you that a lionfish will eat just about anything, but a new study has found that there really are no limits. Researchers were astounded to find 167 different species in lionfish stomachs, and they suspect they still don’t have the full picture.

Want to know how to build a lionfish trap?

I've always wanted to know....
Dr Steve Gittings of NOAA has made detailed instruction on how to build his ingenious lionfish trap. Click here to watch the video, get permission to use it in federal waters, and give Dr Gittings your feedback!

Lionfish vs The Smithsonian

The Smithsonian Magazine is on the hunt
The Smithsonian is picking up what we're putting down and reporting on the “eat ‘em to beat ’em” approach. The article features a bunch of our lionfish-hunting friends, including Field Reporters Rachel Bowman and  Alex Fogg!

Field Reporter of the Quarter

Alex Fogg
Alex has contributed so much to the cause, and is a stellar lionfish hunter! Read about his exploits and contributions to LFU here, and check out our other wonderful Field Reporters.
