If you're planning to have a garage sale this summer to cash in on that household clutter, then you'll want to click the image to read my latest blog post titled, "Top Ten Tips for Garage Sale Success!" Let me know which suggestions are most helpful.

Got a bunch of old t-shirts hanging around the house from your rock'n'roll concert days, your kids' sports teams, or favorite vacation destinations? Why not have them turned into a beautiful quilt? Click the image above to link to the Project Repat website, or click here to visit their pinterest boards.

Ask the Organizer!

Q: The consignment shop didn't want my stuff. Now what do I do?

A: Understand that as a retail establishment, consignment stores limited available floor space; they must feel confident that what they accept on consignment will sell, not sit around.

However, every shop is different, so it's worth it to check with more than one. Have photos to show them either in person, on your phone, or via email. What one says no to, another might accept.

You can also try local auctioneers, flea market or buy-out vendors, and collectors of  specific items.

If nothing pans out, put a dollar value on your time and know when to call it quits. Donation sites are almost always ready, willing and able to accept what you no longer need, use, or love.

Submit your questions to me via email: jamie@homesolutionswny.com with "Ask the Organizer" in the subject line. I'll choose one reader's question to feature in each newsletter.

In May, I was invited to speak at UB's EAP Stress Less Retreat, held at the Center for Tomorrow.

In June, I presented an organizing seminar at Erie County Dept. of Social Services' Wellness Conference to a packed room of 100 attendees.

According to the website, Nextdoor believes that a neighborhood is one of the most important and useful communities in a person's life. Nextdoor’s mission is to provide a trusted platform where neighbors work together to build stronger, safer, happier communities.

I joined our local  Nextdoor community and really like it. The most common posts are people looking for reliable service providers such as painters, plumbers, electricians, etc. It's a great place to post about lost pets, found pets, as well as to inform each other about any security issues in the 'hood. There are ads, both local and national, but they're easy enough to skim over.

If you'd like to look into a Nextdoor community in your area, just click the image at the top.
