Our inaugural ‘Sports Stars Sleepout’ (SSS), on the eve of Homelessness Week 2018, has attracted a heartening response from 19 top current and former athletes who will brave a wintry Sunday night under the stars, at the SCG, not just to express their solidarity with over 44,000 young Australians who are homeless, but focus public attention on their plight.
They are also appealing for funds imperative to alleviate their condition.
(please DONATE here)
Participants will not just be sleeping out but will have a modest Dinner: Soup and Bread. Our NGO beneficiary, “BackTrack” will be well represented on the night, as Bernie Shakeshaft(Founder) and some young men who have endured homelessness and deprivation, will interact with the sporties at the SCG. This engagement makes SSS a unique event. The award-winning documentary, ‘Back Track Boys’ will also be screened on the large SCG screen.
Our sincere thanks to the wonderful men and women, all champions
in their respective sports viz. Cricket, Rugby, Soccer, Cycling, Rugby League and
Volleyball, for their proffered help.
We are also grateful to the SCG for permitting us to hold this event at their magnificent venue.
Please make a generous, tax-deductible donation to your favourite Sports Stars and help us hit homelessness for a Six!
Remember, The Chappell Foundation is entirely volunteer-run, without any operational expense, so, your donation will reach intended recipients without seepage.
