New Innovations in
Pain Management.

At the request of many massage clients, I have decided to start offering the use of CBD infused oils as an option with my massages. If you don't know anything about the incredible benefits of this 100% natural remedy, here is some information for you to consider.
Of course, I will always offer non-CBD infused oils as well.
This is simply an additional layer of healing for those who want it.

CBD and Massage

Cannabinoids are complex chemical compounds that act on receptors in cells. Similar to the hemp plant, which produces over 100 different cannabinoids (or phytocannabinoids), the mammalian body also naturally produces cannabinoids (or endocannabinoids). Within each and every mammal exists an Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is comprised of a series of receptors with the sole purpose of accepting cannabinoids throughout the body. The ECS is responsible for physiological processes such as appetite, pain-sensation, mood and memory, and despite the multitude of functions performed in each area of the body, the primary objective of the ECS is always the same – homeostasis, as it is quite literally the bridge between the body and our mind.   How and why does your body respond to CBD?

CBD Oil Uses and Benefits

Again, CBD does NOT get you stoned. It is important to remember that CBD that is derived from hemp does not produce the same psychoactive effects as THC. CBD works best when taken over a period of time, allowing the chemical to build up in your system and your body to maintain balance. Its effects aren’t immediate, they are more subtle and help support a better quality of life, rather than a quick fix that’s hindered by side effects. In other words, it’s more like taking a daily multivitamin, rather than taking a pill for a headache.

If you are worried about potential employers requiring a drug test, it’s very unlikely that hemp oil will cause you to fail. Typically, tests only search for THC, no other cannabinoids.  If you’re worried about a drug test when taking CBD products, be sure that you are using something that’s distilled from hemp and guaranteed THC-free.

CBD has been the focus of studies for topics such as:

  • Seizures

  • Inflammation

  • Anxiety

  • Psychosis

  • Nausea

  • Tumors

Many people know about the positive benefits of CBD and there are a variety of ways a person can opt to use CBD. The most popular ways to take CBD are usually to ingest it, vape it, or take a CBD tincture orally. So why apply CBD to the skin? What does external use of CBD in a massage oil do for you? Can it really make any difference if you’re not consuming it?  I believe it can and there is science to back that up.

Many people swear by using CBD on their skin. It seems to work wonders for a wide variety of conditions. CBD works on a cellular level as it absorbs into your skin. There is a direct connection between cannabidiol and the body. It’s still a very young market but here’s what I found.

Rejuvenation: Your skin will brighten, taking on a healthier vibrant radiance beyond merely being moisturized.

Pain Relief: Expect to be excited about the amazing arthritic and soft tissue pain relief.

Complexion: Many people when they use CBD creams and massage oils on their faces see a pronounced reduction in blocked pores, dark circles around eyes, and the dreaded blackheads.

Acne Relief: Active irritating acne is immediately soothed and through continued use the skin condition starts fading.

Alleviates Inflammation: Skin redness and irritation are reduced almost immediately for people across the board…again, miraculous!  CBD Topicals do not enter the bloodstream. But that is why the cream can be focussed on a specific area. This is what makes CBD effective at relieving the pain caused by arthritis. It acts as an anti-inflammatory for the relief of chronic pain,  soothing the swelling of joints, which can improve mobility. If you have shoulder pain, for example, rubbing the cream on that shoulder can help relieve the pain. The CBD in the cream combines with the endocannabinoid (CB) receptors found in your skin.

Soreness: It relaxes hardened muscles, relieves tension, and leaves skin not only protected but nourished, rejuvenated, and silky smooth.

Overall, CBD is a great relaxation tool that melts away stress, improves sleep patterns, tackles migraines and headaches with swiftness, and treats musculoskeletal pain of all kinds. This is why massaging it into muscles and joints using a CBD lotion or oil can be so beneficial. Not only do your muscles get to experience the benefits, you also give your skin a healthy dose of nourishment and vitamins as well.

Effects of CBD on the Skin

Just as CBD may be able to help soothe tired muscles and achy joints, it also has some wonderful effects on the skin. In fact, some people apply CBD oil to their face and skin to improve their complexion. When you try a CBD lotion or oil, you may start to notice that your muscles aren’t the only things feeling the effects. Your skin, too, may benefit from contact with hemp massage oil.

That’s because CBD can nourish and replenish the skin. It is hydrating, especially because of the other organic oils that a cannabis or hemp massage oil contains. From coconut oil to other healthy plant extracts, your skin is getting a treat, too, every time you use hemp massage oil!

Sadly, many drugstore products are full of questionable chemicals and additives. My massage oils, on the other hand, are a more natural and gentle alternative. Whenever possible, I produce my own massage products from essential oils and inert carriers like rice bran oil or avocado oil so that we both can be assured of the contents.

Smoothing out wrinkles and brightening the skin — what could be better? Certainly, frequent massages will help keep your skin looking replenished, invigorated, young, and healthy. This is because massages improve blood flow and coax your muscles and overall body into optimal health.

Endocannabinoids are natural signals sent by your body's endocannabinoid system. They detect and regulate hunger, memory, mood, and pain. CBD helps elevate your natural levels of the CB receptors that relieve pain. You don’t have to worry about using too much — you can’t overdo it with CBD massage oil! There are no high or psychotropic side effects at all. You can use it in the morning or night. Whenever you feel sore and pained, simply rubbing CBD oil into your skin can cause you to breathe a sigh of relief. Help is on the way.

Is CBD Legal in Massachusetts?

Live in Massachusetts? Wondering if CBD is legal in your state? Well, the short answer is yes, as long as it’s properly sourced. I always purchase hemp-derived CBD oil from a reputable company that does their due diligence in this arena so you don’t have to worry. To allay any fears, I'll mention this for those that may still have concerns about legality.  Industrial Hemp from which my CBD oils are derived is legal in all states. While CBD can also be harvested from marijuana and that oil is legal in 46 states, I only use hemp-based CBD products.
