Transfers & RDA Projects in 2018-2019

Looking ahead to a busy 2018-19 we are pleased to be working with a number of agencies on record transfers and new Retention and Disposal Authority (RDA) development projects.

We're also excited for the expected completion of our new Digital Archive Program, an initiative of the Victorian Electronic Records Strategy, in 2019.

Proof of concept summary report

Emails are a vital part of doing business. In government, emails also provide evidence essential for accountability and need to be preserved as public records into the future. In the course of their work, public sector employees can generate hundreds of thousands of emails.

The Lotus Notes Proof of Concept project was developed in conjunction with CenITex to make the Lotus Notes email stores more accessible and better managed.

Archival Snapshot: No Country for Working Men

State and Bendigo archives reveal hardship and unemployment on the WW1 homefront.

Since the outbreak of World War One, the cost of living in Victoria had soared. Drought and harvest failures in 1914 meant there was not enough food to go around and prices were high. National unemployment rocketed to over 14%.

Records held at Public Record Office Victoria provide an insight into efforts to find work for the down-and-out during the Great War.
