Kneemail from Saint James Church

July 25, AD 2018

FROM THE RECTOR:

Dear Parishioners & Friends of St James,

This Sunday we observe our Patronal Feast, that of St James’ the Great.  Fr David will celebrate the 10am Mass, and there will be a reception for Father and his family in the Great Hall afterwards.  I hope you will join me in wishing him Godspeed.

A couple of things going forward:
  1. Work has already begun in putting together a Fellowship Committee to explore and implement ways of deepening our common life.  You may expect to hear more about this in the coming days.

  2. With only one priest, I am anxious that a pastoral care team be put in place to assist me in our parish’s ministry to the sick, the friendless and the needy.  I hope to write more about this in next week’s knee mail.

Needless to say, I am thankful for the various offers of assistance and outside-the-box thinking that have already been made.  As I said in the summer Newsletter, I will continue to give my best, and hope that you too will step up and give your best, all to the glory of God and for the benefit of his people.  Rather than seeing the reality of having one priest (at least for a while) as a liability, I am committed to seeing it as an opportunity for the strengthening and renewal of St James’.

And finally, there is a vacancy in the position of Executive Director of the Randy Sams’ Shelter, an associated ministry of St James’.  You can find a link to the job posting on the Church’s Facebook page. If you know someone who might be interested, please encourage them to apply.

Yours with every blessing,

Rev. Douglas Anderson, Rector
