Wrapping Up

It seems like just yesterday that we were kicking off the summer with our 60th Anniversary party, and welcoming our first campers of 2018. It's hard to believe that we're actually only one week away from the end of this summer's program. It has been a spectacular summer at Camp Deer Run, and as we begin to wrap it all up, one word comes to mind: thankful. We're thankful for the opportunity to show the love of Christ to so many. We're thankful for our summer staff who work so hard to make it possible. We're thankful to our supporters in prayer, who constantly lift up this mission to our Father. We're thankful for our donors who keep our gates open. There are truly so many things to be thankful for, and we can hardly begin to name them all.

We are encouraged and excited by the continued growth of our mission this summer. We have had more campers than ever before by a long shot. This has been, beyond any doubt, the biggest summer Camp Deer Run has ever had. We're moving into uncharted territory, following God to heights we've never seen. That trend will continue this upcoming week as we welcome in our last campers of the summer, for what is expected to be ANOTHER record-breaking session.

With that in mind, we don't want to start packing up and reminiscing too soon! We still have one more whole session to go. We have one more opportunity to show Christ to over 200 campers this week. We will continue to be in prayer for our summer staff as they get ready for their 10th and final week of camp. We pray also for the final group of campers that are coming this week, that they may see God and hear His voice during their time at Camp.

We had the opportunity to hear a story this summer that has blessed us and reminded us how important every session at Camp Deer Run can be. Without naming any names, a former camper came back this summer to join us in celebrating the 60th anniversary of Camp. He was here for only a few hours, but his experience was profound. He told us that after only one day at Camp, he was reminded of his summers as a camper and the fire he felt for Christ after each one. He said that after that day at Camp, he decided to reconsider the path of his life and the complacency in his faith journey. He reached out to family and friends to help him reset his path and follow Christ. All of this because of a few hours back at Camp Deer Run.

Our God is powerful, and he has been at work for 60 years through Camp Deer Run. People are still being blessed by their experiences at Camp from decades ago, and we are blessed to hear their stories.

None of this would be possible without the Deer Run family, and we are so thankful to all of you, and to God for blessing us with this community.

Hail to Deer Ol' Deer Run!
