Hi Friends,

Summertime means sunshine and smiles, and if you need an extra dose, check out the fun events happening across the TACL family (the LYF video below is guaranteed to bring some smiles). Summer also goes by quickly, so make sure it ends with a bang and get your ticket to the Fall 2018 TACL Convention in Washington DC before the Early Bird deadline. Hope to see you there!

TAIWANESE AMERICAN HIGHLIGHT

In our latest TA Highlight blog post, Dr. Michi Fu discusses the stigma of mental health issues in the Taiwanese American community. July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, and TACL encourages our community to read Michi's blog post and learn more about mental health.

TAP-ATX: PASSPORT TO TAIWAN

Through TAP-ATX's week-long Passport to Taiwan program, Austinites got the chance to visit local Taiwanese American businesses for exclusive savings to iconic Taiwanese cultural food items.

The event ended with a bang at the closing party where TAP-ATX received an official Taiwanese American Heritage Week proclamation from the City of Austin. Find out more here.

TAP-ATL: LU ROU FAN COOKOFF

TAP-ATL recently held Atlanta's inaugural Lu Rou Fan Cook-off to celebrate Taiwanese American Heritage Week!

12 teams competed for the best lu rou fan, and nearly 200 people came to taste this popular Taiwanese minced pork rice dish and vote for their favorite. Yum!

TAP-SEA: Seattle Taiwanese American Film Festival

The Seattle Taiwanese American Film Festival (STAFF), presented by TAP-Seattle, concluded on Sunday, July 1 with over 1,000 attendees for the three days combined. As an inaugural event, STAFF was met with overwhelming response from the Seattle community. A huge congratulations to TAP-Seattle! Check out the blog post for a recap of the films presented and festival activities.

CAMPS UPDATE: LYF 2018

LYF Camp 2018 ended a couple of weeks ago. Watch the camp recap video to see what the campers were up to!
