VENUS FELT FAN SUPPORT BACK IN NZ
After yesterday's fifth set thriller at Wimbledon, Michael Venus had some kind words about the support the country gave him. “I thoroughly enjoyed it,” he said. “I don’t know how you can play out there and not be happy and enjoy playing tennis. That’s what we do all the training for, for moments like that and hopefully I can create more of them in the future.” As Venus went deeper into Wimbledon, he said he could feel the interest building back in NZ and even though he’s on the other side of the world, that support inspired him. “It’s been great, I’ve noticed from the messages that there have been more each round and it’s great to hear from people, have the support and know that people are following it and are behind us. To be able to share the moment with people, even if they’re not here but are watching it at home, it is cool, because I know they’re behind us and it’s great to have that support.” READ MORE

ATP VOWS TO SUPPORT ASB CLASSIC WITH WORLD TEAM CUP COMING
'The ATP is committed to not letting the ASB Classic suffer when the World Team Cup launches in January 2020. The new event will take place in week one every season around a number of cities in Australia, so the Auckland tournament will stand as an anomaly sandwiched between it and the Australian Open. What consequences this has on the Classic is unknown. There will be 24 national teams, with five players per team, so it could mean a larger number of players choose to rest ahead of the Australian Open.'  READ MORE
