Good morning <<First Name>>, as this week comes to an end, remind yourself that Jesus has made a Spirit-empowered witness for Him, through His indwelling Holy Spirit.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: ROADBLOCKS TO WITNESSING 2
Luke 12:15 "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
All too often we place too much emphasis on the temporal things of this world and not enough on the eternal relationships of life.
Take note of what Jesus says in today's text. He then tells the parable about a man who acquired great riches and reasoned that he had enough stored up so that he could eat, drink and be merry (Luke 12:19). "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself? This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God" (Luke 12:20, 21).
It seems to be the great ambition of us humans to seek happiness and comfort, with no thought for our souls.
What would you exchange for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness faithfulness, gentleness and self-control?
A new car? Better social status?
The lie of Satan is that social status, material possessions, appearance or other temporal rewards of this world will bring the lasting joy that only God can bring.
That is exchanging the pleasures of the soul for the pleasures of things.
Bad choice!
Let us pray:
Prayer (pray aloud with me): Dear Heavenly Father, what a privilege it is to be a personal witness to Your resurrection power that is within me. I repent of the times I have let other things overshadow the value of lost sheep, and placing a higher value on acquiring temporal things than on the value of life itself. I confess that I have focused on storing up treasures on earth rather than treasures in heaven. In Jesus name I pray through the power and ministry of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Blessings,
Jono, Sandy, Michelle & Sarah
