We promised that if you subscribed to our newsletter, you'd be the first to hear important market news. Well, here's some big news for you. Acclaimed Chef Sydney Meers joins our market family next week! He will debut at the Hampton Blvd Farmers Market with a wonderful lineup of neo-southern and gourmet goodness on July 25! Chef Meers has been well known and loved by the Hampton Roads culinary community for many years. He has the distinction of having been a 2016 Mid-Atlantic Best Chef Semifinalist for the James Beard Award of Excellence. These days he is taking a step back from a very successful 40-year restaurant career, which includes his iconic eateries The Dumbwaiter, Cowboy Syd's and, most recently, Stove in P-town, to bring unforgettable items from his kitchen and farmette to you at the market!  He explains, "I still use the same standard now as I always have to futhur garner your trust for my food products."  At the market, he will be offering many of the items used in dishes at his restaurants over the years--including his Cowboy Syd's D'lish Sauce (aka "16 oz of Glory in a bottle"), his "Not Hot" Pepper Sauce, two varieties of his famous cured hams (you've certainly enjoyed these before if you've dined at his restaurants), heirloom grits that are ground to his specifications, his signature coffee beans, his popular hamburger relish, his signature spice mix, and his 15 year-old barrel aged vanilla extract. We are thrilled that he will be joining us at HBFM! Let's all give him a warm welcome next week!

Recipe of the Week!

Our recipe of the week always highlights ingredients that are in-season and available at the market. This Crab, Corn and Tomato Salad captures all the sweetness of a summer day, contrasted by a tart Lemon-Basil Dressing. It features a bounty of ingredients you can find with our vendors this week. Best of all, you don't even have to heat up the kitchen.
