This summer we have hosted weekly field trips from the Boys and Girls Club of Waynesboro and Staunton, and the Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program, a partnership between the Staunton-Augusta Family YMCA and Staunton City Schools. Students rotate between a farm task, a food preparation activity, and a tasting station, and each week they check on their square foot plots they planted in June! Their excitement is tangible each time they get off the bus at the beginning of each trip: they can't wait to check on their vegetables to see how much they've grown!

We're excited to announce that three Summer Youth Staff have joined our team for this summer: Katie, Sam and Dakotah! They have dedicated their summer to work on the farm with us and we couldn't be more thrilled to be employing young people to participate in growing food alongside us!

This is Week 7 of our CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) share! We love handing each of our 20 members their lovely share of freshly harvested and washed veggies and herbs every Tuesday, with their optional Polyface meat and Tinyfields Farm flower add-ons. Interested in joining our CSA next year? Contact our farm manager Laura Smith!

We made our first-ever produce sale to Waynesboro Public Schools at William Perry Elementary in June! We are so excited to be partnering with Waynesboro Public Schools in contributing local produce for their school lunch programs. Public schools are just one destination for Project GROWS produce but one of our favorites!

The Staunton Health Department Farmer's Market is back! This market is open every Friday from 11am-2pm from July through September. As part of our mission to improve food access in our community, Project GROWS partners with the WIC Farmer's Market Nutrition Program, which provides vouchers to qualifying WIC clients that can be used on fresh fruits, veggies, and cut herbs, and this market is a great place to find those things! This market is also open to the general public.

One of the most fun parts of summer is introducing young people to new veggies every week and to watch as they grow in their willingness to try new foods and taste new recipes! These students are busy sampling massaged kale and sunflower seed salad at the weekly Project GROWS Youth-Run Farm Stand at the Boys and Girls Club of Waynesboro. Our partnership with Virginia Cooperative Extension has made it possible for us to incorporate nutrition lessons and delicious samples made with local produce at both this produce stand and the Waynesboro Farmer's Market! We are grateful for strong partnerships in our community that help make this work happen. Thank you for your support!
