LRT READY: Countdown to Construction
Last week the Chamber hosted the latest installment of our
LRT Ready series devoted to helping local business operators prepare for light rail transit in Hamilton. This session presented draft strategies now in development to mitigate the negative impact from construction on businesses operating on the route running from McMaster University to Eastgate Square. It was moderated by Rollin Stanley, General Manager of Urban Strategy, City of Calgary — a community with extensive experience delivering rapid transit services. The panel included Andrew Hope, Metrolinx; Kris Jacobson, City of Hamilton; and Kelsey Ewart, Metrolinx. The big takeaway: Early planning, community engagement and seamless communication are essential to a successful construction mitigation plan. Special thanks to our series partners: Metrolinx, Downtown Hamilton BIA and International Village BIA.
