Thanks again for following and supporting our Wycliffe ministry! Below is a summary of my recent visit to Greece for an international Digital Bible Library (DBL) Summit meeting.
Participating in a DBL Summit meeting
During the last week of June, I (Eric) was honored (and sponsored by the American Bible Society) to participate in the annual international Digital Bible Library (DBL) Summit, which met in Athens, Greece.
My purpose for attending the meeting was to:
meet and work together with my international team, who is developing software to support new Digital Bible Library uploading and downloading efforts, and
meet the people who are (or will be) using our DBL software either to upload translations or to download them for publishing.
DBL Summit meetings continue to broaden my mind. DBL is not simply about supporting technologies for scripture access. It's about supporting the many interpersonal relationshipsandprocesses that need to happen so that many Bible translation agencies can enable many publishers to provide their Bible content in all the languages for which it has been and is being translated.

After our meetings, we were able to see some historic sites like the temple of Poseidon ruins and some very old yet active Greek monasteries built on mountains.
Nick, our American Bible Society colleague from Greece, enjoyed sharing these places with us to show appreciation for all our hard work.
As of April 2018, DBL hosts 1792 text entries covering 1284 languages and 1089 audio entriescovering 740 languages.

Did you know that the Greek word Ναί ("Yes") and όχι ("No") can sound like their opposites in English ("Nay" and "Okay")?

My favorite (and free) historic site to visit was Mars Hill (aka Areopagus). The marble stone (smoothed by many visitors) was precariously slippery. I tried to imagine what it was like to be Apostle Paul announcing Jesus' resurrection to Greek intelligentsia.
