Life by the Spirit

 Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This month we need mentors. Initially, it can be scary to take that step of faith to enter into another person’s atmosphere. Doubt can quickly creep in, especially when things do not go the way we expected them to go. One of my great mentors taught me that it is extremely important to know where we end and God begins. You will never be, nor should you be, anyone’s “end all, be all”; however, you can be that bit of encouragement someone needs to take their next step into freedom.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

We have a lovely twenty year old single mother of two, boys ages one and two, currently pregnant with her third child, a girl, due in September. In addition to being a full time mom and a full time student at College, she also works.

She would like a mentor to help her move forward in life; someone she can talk to and someone who can be a source of support. This young lady has experienced more disappointments than most people, yet she manages to keep a smile on her face. She is truly delightful to be around and is determined to live a better life for her children.

In addition, we have two young men in need of a mentor. Each is struggling with substance abuse. One of the young men resides in Chino Hills, is polite and kind but needs a caring, firm male mentor to help walk with him through this time of recovery. The other young man is eighteen, lives in Anaheim, and needs a positive male role model.

In the end, the undeniable truth is we all were made to love and be loved. This life is filled with ups and downs, twist and turns, successes and failures. People will disappoint us and we will disappoint others; however, Christ is a constant for those who truly cling to Him.

Hebrews 13:5 says, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” (NIV)

Our hope should always be established in His love (John 3:16), in who He is (John 15) , and in what He has done (John 19).

God is on the move,

Ana Martinez

Ephesians 3:14-21 (NKJV)

14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man: 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
