Bridge Funding Available to Tenure Track Faculty
University of Rochester Medical Center tenure track faculty and their chairpersons may secure bridge funding during a hiatus in research support. The goal of this program is to allow researchers to maintain their research momentum in order to obtain external funding.
Up to $50,000 will be made available through the Interim Funding Program and applicants may request a maximum of $75,000. The applicant’s department or center is expected to provide at least 50% of the awarded institutional funds, i.e., $25,000 for the maximum award of $75,000. Applicants will be required to provide a budget for the full amount of the award.
All questions and applications should be directed to Anne Reed.
Submit proposals by Sunday, September 30, 2018.

ResearchMatch Now Available in Spanish
ResearchMatch.org, a national online tool that matches people interested in research with clinical researchers throughout the U.S., recently launched a Spanish version of its website. With this change, ResearchMatch aims to increase the pool of Spanish-speaking research volunteers and the recruitment of underrepresented groups in research.
Researchers from the University of Rochester who want to connect with and recruit Spanish-speaking volunteers for their studies can submit Spanish contact messages to your Institutional Review Board for approval (including any other participant-facing materials, such as consent forms). Recruiting Patients With Billboard Ads
Do They Work?
One of the biggest challenges in clinical research is recruiting and enrolling patients. While many sites turn to more traditional outlets such as TV, radio, and print, others utilize online and social media.
As part of her Forte webinar, “The Art and Science Behind Media Planning and Buying for Patient Recruitment,” Jennifer Whitlock, principal at Mercer, answered a question regarding one of these less common media outlets – billboards. She shares her experience with billboard advertising for patient recruitment, and offers a few other ideas that sites may want to consider.
