Have you been loving this summer? Tons of sunshine, some really hot days and some perfect 70 degree days. Its been great!
But it's also been very dry!
This year it is the lack of normal rainfall since the end of May that is causing us problems. There's been so little rainfall this year that for most June and July the pastures have had very little regrowth.
So currently milk production is on the low side as the pastures just aren't as lush as we expect for a New York summer. Because of this we haven't had enough milk for all of our normal customers.
It looks like thinks may be changing with the bit of rain we got last week. We'll see but till the pastures regrow the milk cows will be getting some good hay to keep them milking.
Some of you have been waiting patiently for milk and I wanted to let you know we haven't forgotten about you. Thanks for your patience as we work through some of the challenges mother nature throws our way.
I expect to have a chill tank full of milk and the customer fridge freshly stocked very soon!
