Trade and tariff lobbying has soared in the months since President Trump announced that the U.S. would impose the tariffs on China, Canada, Mexico and the European Union. In the second quarter of 2017, 1,305 federal lobbying contracts disclosed work on tariff and/or trade issues. This year during the same period, contracts mentioning tariff and trade work rose to 1,732 — an increase of nearly a third.
