Field Day season in full swing Aug-Sept

Please visit our project website's events calendar to see details for summer field days taking place across the Ogallala region in the next month. Short summaries below highlight some upcoming events led or supported by members of our team. So much good information on crop and water management will be shared at these events!

Two KS Water Tech Farm field days (hosted by Northwest KS Technical College and by Garden City Co./Dwane Roth) are featured below; there will be many more Water Tech Farm field days between now and the end of August in KS, all great events- check them out! Also, if you're in the Bushland, TX area, don't miss the USDA-ARS funded Ogallala Aquifer Program sponsored Summer Crops/Center Pivot Irrigation Field Day Aug. 9!

Our next newsletter will feature a few more of these events and provide an update on our team's research and outreach activities.

UNL West Central Research & Extension Center Annual Water & Crops Field Day

August 23, 2018
WCREC (see map)
North Platte, NE
8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. CDT

Producers from NE and KS competing as part of this year's Testing Ag Performance Solutions (TAPS) program will share their perspectives during a panel discussion. Tour the wide range of research conducted at the station, including the TAPS field where competitors’ randomized, replicated plots of corn and sorghum are growing under a VRI system. These plots are being monitored extensively from the air, in the canopy, and underground; more than 30 company representatives for these and other technologies will be on hand to meet with you at the field day’s Expo. A delicious hot lunch will be served; there will also be a cool ice cream social mid-afternoon.

This event also features three classroom-learning tracks in agronomy, economics, and water management with info presented by Nebraska producers, UNL researchers, Ogallala Water CAP project team members and other colleagues traveling in from CO, OK, and KS for this event.

“This annual event gives attendees a chance to see how UNL, farmers and industry are partnering to help irrigated crop production to become more efficient and profitable,” said event organizer Chuck Burr (UNL Crops and Water Extension Educator).

For more info and to register, visit: https://go.unl.edu/water-crops-field-day. Please RSVP (see info at link above) by August 20. The Ogallala Water CAP is a proud co-sponsor of this action-packed event. We hope to see you there!
