Hello Indivisible Resistance!

The deadline for reuniting families has come and gone, but hundreds of children still remain separated from their families. In many cases, parents have been deemed "ineligible" to reunite with their children because they have been deported without their kids. There are widespread reports of parents being coerced into signing documents to say they are being "voluntarily" deported without their children, but in about three-quarters of the cases, there is no documentation, coerced or not, of such a choice. In detention centers,  it's recently come to light that guards were forcibly injecting children with psychotropic drugs in at least one facility. The Trump administration said in court that it does not accept responsibility for reuniting children with their deported parents, instead suggesting the ACLU should be the one to find deported parents whose addresses range from "not given" to “calle sin nombre”.

Top priority actions this week:

Tell our Senators: Thank you for speaking out against family separations- and don't fund this cruelty

Sample Script:

Hello! My name is ___ and I’m calling from [zip code].

I’m calling today to thank [Sen. Harris/Sen. Feinstein/Rep. Garamendi] for continuing to speak out against Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda, from family separation to the ongoing terrorization of immigrant communities. I’d also like to urge [Sen. Harris/Sen. Feinstein/Rep. Garamendi] to oppose any legislation that would provide more funding to ICE, CBP, and Trump’s border wall. I urge [MoC] to oppose any legislation that would fund Trump’s mass detention and deportation machine.

Let us know if you did the action! Did you (pick one)

We talk about the occupation outside the Sacramento Department of Homeland Security building that houses ICE, the idea of abolishing ICE, and moving the national political conversation to the left.
