A Message from Pastor Fran
One of the great privileges of serving as Senior Pastor at CUMC, is serving alongside an awesome staff team.  Every staff team member of CUMC is gifted and devoted to serving Christ in the context of our faith community and beyond.  In the coming weeks you will see the fruit of their labors from summer planning, team building, continuing education opportunities, as well as intentional spiritual formation.  Also, I hope you notice that no matter how different the individual roles are among our fantastic staff members, those roles weave together in many ways that connect all of us in the mission and ministry of the church.
 
As our CUMC staff grows as disciples and as a team, both leading the congregation as well as learning from the congregation, we covenant together to share the good news of Jesus Christ from each of our respective positions, as well as a team committed to serving Christ among you and equipping you for service.  I Peter 4:10 reads, “And serve each other according to the gift each person has received, as good managers of God’s diverse gifts.” (CEB)

Two Announcements for United Methodist Men

• UMM will participate in a project to replace lights in several areas of the church with more efficient light fixtures designed to save electricity. Our first work day for light replacement will be Sunday, August 12. We will have a light lunch (no pun intended) after the 11:00 service and then work to install the new lights.
• UMM will start a Bible study on Tuesday, August 28. We will meet from 7:00-8:00am. We will rotate locations among several restaurants. Our first meeting will be at McDonald’s. We will study the Acts of the Apostles. The plan is to meet to fellowship and study each Tuesday. A schedule including locations will be distributed soon.

Blessing of the Backpacks
August 19th at all three Worship Services! All kids are invited to bring their backpacks to be blessed at whichever Worship Service their family attends. We look forward to seeing you and your family for this special time of blessing before school starts back.

Audio/Visual Volunteer Training
All current A/V volunteers and those interested in learning are invited to attend a training session Sunday, August 19 from 3:00-4:00pm in the Worship Center. Come learn to run sound, slides, and video or get a refresher. Contact Michael Redmond (michael@clemsonumc.org) to RSVP.

Youth Wild Wednesday
Wild Wednesday is a time of summer fun and fellowship for youth, in partnership with several other Clemson area congregations. We meet at First Baptist Clemson each Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm. Dinner provided.

Family Pool Night
Wednesday, August 1: Family Pool Night at Patrick Square from 5-7 pm. Bring your family out for a fun night of swimming and fellowship! Feel free to bring a picnic dinner for your family. We are asking families to pay $2 per family per pool night or $20 for the whole summer to help cover the cost of a lifeguard. Thank you in advance for your help with this!

Confirmation Sign-Up
It’s time to sign up for confirmation! Confirmation is a time of discovery in which youth learn about our shared faith, UM history, and what it means to live a life of Christian service. We are currently putting together the confirmation class to begin this fall. Confirmation is open to all rising seventh graders and older. Welcome Back Lunch
On Sunday, August 26 CUMC will host its annual covered-dish luncheon to welcome back our college students and kick off the semester. The lunch will be held in the Christian Life Center immediately following The Vine and 11:00am services. Church members are asked to bring a generous side dish and/or dessert. If you are willing to help with setup or clean up please contact Pastor Steve steve@clemsonumc.org. Come join us for this great celebration!

Wednesday Night Live!
Wednesday Night Live starts up again Wednesday, August 29th. Join us for a meal at 5:30pm and trivia and children's programming at 6:00pm.

The church office will close at Noon on Fridays through August 3.
