Latest updates and news from your Learning Resource consultants, every month.
Hello <<First Name>>,
So another academic year is nearly upon us! We hope you have all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer and are looking forward to the term and year ahead.

Learning Resource Consultants
We are pleased to announce that we have two new Learning Resource Consultants that have joined the team - Jose Kingsley and Laura Smith - which will mean that we will be able to offer even more in school support to ensure that you get the most out of your LGfL services and resources.

Reading Zone Live
Reading Zone Live has been updated over the summer with two new authors Phillip Reeve and Mini Grey. This means that there are now 40 authors hosted in Reading Zone Live! Don't forget to look out over this year for our popular Reading Zone Live events and get involved as a school.

Microsoft Cloud Champions
We are excited to announce the launch of the Microsoft Cloud Champions Program.  The Microsoft/LGfL Cloud Champions program will give 50 London Education institutions all the benefits of the Microsoft Schools program as well as high level support from the Microsoft and LGfL team.
These benefits include:
  • CPD sessions for all staff at Microsoft's HQ, Schools and Online
  • Build a Digital transformation framework with Champion schools to ensure teachers are taking advantage of programs run by Microsoft Education (MIE/MIEE/Showcase School)
  • Hosted events for schools on the program
  • Opportunity to build case studies to share the cloud transformation journey and to learn from other schools

Saving schools money and keeping children safe
At the end of the summer term, our CEO John Jackson sent an update to schools outlining the new services that are available as part of your LGfL subscription.  This includes access to MalwareBytes, Meraki, Sophos as well as licences for Neverware and Egress Switch. You can find out how to ensure you have access to all of these services here.

LGfL DigiSafe
There have been various additions to the online safeguarding portal that are particularly relevant for the new year. We have fully revised and updated our Online Safety Policy and AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) templates - have a look before you review your polices.  There is a series of new safeguarding posters as you update displays for the new year - free to download and print in high resolution A3 and there are new CPD Powerpoint presentations for all staff safeguarding updates on live-streaming and self-harm bullying - two important areas we have new evidence on.  Find out more and see all the links in the latest DigiSafe newsletter here (why not sign up a Designated Safeguarding Friend while you're there?)

River Thames Boat Project
The River Thames Boat project runs KS2 workshops on sustainability, climate change, plastic pollution, river geography and science on board their out reach boats at Teddington and Hermitage community moorings at Wapping. A visit would link with our River Thames resource. Their workshops are interactive with hands-on experiments and learning tailored for the surrounding environments. Days are available for one class per day and are free at Wapping and a cost of £260 per day at Teddington. You can find out more about the courses on offer here

Healthy Minds
Our latest open access resource produced in partnership with the leading mental health charity for young people - Young Minds, features a range of teacher led activities involving group work promoting self reflection and video content with supporting activities.  The main activities are designed for use with learners in upper KS2, KS3 and KS4. Some resources are designed for use by staff and/or for parents.  You can view the resource here.

Training from LGfL
There are a wide number of courses running in the Autumn term.
