Bogans of Scarborough Unite for Bingo

The Bogan Bingo night was a huge success with a great turnout and a totally rock'n time had by all. As you can see from the photos everyone embraced their inner bogan, donned the flanney, let their hair down, and got into the spirit of the evening (and I don't mean JD). Sadly, some people found it a little too easy to get into character and didn't have to venture beyond their own wardrobe for a "costume". For more action from the evening checkout the SJFC Facebook Page

A special thanks to Jodie Beeson, Kat Dehavilland, Justine Wheeler, and everyone who help plan, set-up, run, and clean-up.
'There are some people who argue that sports have become too important in our society. I completely disagree!  In fact, I would say that sports have never been more important than they are today.  As popular culture has begun to overemphasise values that we may not consider positive, such as fame, wealth, and popularity, we need sports more then ever to teach our children traditional core values.  There are few other places for them to learn things such as sportsmanship, teamwork, humility, determination, and courage.  There are even fewer environments where we can encourage our kids to be healthy risk takers, overcome challenges, and look upon obstacles as opportunities, and not as excuses to fail.'

John O'Sullivan - Changing The Game Project

Here at SJFC we aim to make AFL footy a healthy, positive, and rewarding experience for our children, and their whole family. If as parents and guardians you believe, as we do, that development and teaching life values takes precedence over the final score, we recommend you check out Changing the Game. Start by watching John's TED Talk below. You and your kids will be glad you did!

SJFC Player Life Member Wil Powell made his AFL debut with the Gold Coast Suns in Round 15 against Collingwood. Ten minutes into the game Wil got his first AFL touch and managed to get away a left foot kick at goal. The ball sailed through cleanly putting Wil into the first kick-first goal club! It was an impressive debut with Wil going on to make 4 marks and 10 disposals.

The Auskick Gala Day is on Sunday 12 August at City Beach Oval from 8:30am. This is a fantastic event in which our Auskickers get to test their skills against the other clubs in the district. Let your family and friends know so they lock it in their calendars!

Fixtures and other details will be communicated to Auskick parents as soon as they are available.
