North Yorkshire leading the way but National Rural Crime Survey shows concerns persist and more needs to be done
As well as being North Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, I am proud to chair the National Rural Crime Network which I formed in 2014.
This is an organisation of 30 Police and Crime Commissioners for rural areas and it is part of my determination to ensure that the voice of North Yorkshire is heard at Westminster.
We have recently published the results of our second National Rural Crime Survey which showed that rural communities are living on the edge - in fear of crime, unhappy with the police and feeling isolated and vulnerable.
However, amid the concerns there were positives here in North Yorkshire with the perception of police here better than the national average after a series of initiatives we put in place here following the last survey in 2015.
