AUGUST 2018
DONATE NOW

We're here to serve, advocate, and change.

Humility Homes and Services--our new name embraces our historic and ongoing commitment to serve and advocate for change. We believe homelessness is a systemic social justice issue--a reversible circumstance, not a personal characteristic.

Humility is “that habitual quality whereby we live in the truth of things - - the truth that in our littleness we have been given extravagant dignity”* Because we have been given dignity, humility means extending dignity to all people and saying “yes” to the human condition. Humility demonstrates our “radical acceptance” philosophy to serve all persons experiencing housing instability, near homelessness, and homelessness. Radical acceptance demonstrates the broad range of individuals we serve and the broad range of services we provide.

With your ongoing support, together, we can end homelessness in the Quad Cities and  improve the quality of life here for all of us.

From July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018,
Humility Homes and Services provided safe shelter for 560 persons and a total of 20,814 overnight stays.

On July 26, a coalition of housing providers canvassed Davenport to count people living on the streets: sleeping on abandoned porches (above), parking lots, cars or on the riverbank.
In only two hours we engaged 22 people.
