Dear Calvary by the Sea 'Ohana,

Thank you for all your continued prayers and participation in all that activities at Calvary by the Sea Church, Preschool and Angel Network Charities.

As we have mentioned during recent communications, the restoration of Ohana Lani (old sanctuary) was not as simple as the restoration of the other buildings.  A plan to “restore in place” was rejected due to issues with the plumbing and electrical condition in this relatively old building.  The City & County are insisting that we make upgrades to the building to bring it up to existing code.  This will make the building more functional and will extend the useful life of the building; however, it has significantly delayed the restoration work and will cost more than anticipated.  We discovered problems with the plumbing drain line which required an emergency repair and we had to abate the asbestos floor tile throughout the building.  We are making changes to the building to mitigate future flooding issues and we are using this occasion to make some changes to the office spaces in the building.  We are just about through the City & County permitting process and are ready to proceed with the restoration.  We need to come back to the Congregation to extend the spending limit which was granted in May.  As I write this we do not have a firm price for the restoration, we are in final negotiations with our Contractor on the price.  

Special Congregational Meetings are not common for this congregation so as a reminder, the stated agenda are the only items of business which may be conducted at this special meeting.

The President of the Council of Deacons (Tim Sprowls) has called a special Congregational Meeting.  The meeting will be held on Sunday, 19 Aug 2018, 11:00 AM in the CBTS Sanctuary. This will follow an abbreviated 10am service.
