Knysna Sedgefield Hospice is extremely grateful to those in our local community who so willingly helped us in so many ways during Mandela Day 2018 on Wednesday 18 July 2018.
A big thank you to Falcon Creek Spur management and staff for sponsoring an outing for 40 of our Orphans and Vulnerable Children for the 3rd year in a row! This outing included burgers, chips, cold drinks AND ice creams! The children also had the opportunity to use the play equipment and had a fantastic time as usual.

Thank you to Thando Rwexu, Jacob Nyirenda, and Misile Msila who were sent by Mr. Keith Stewart to do some much needed maintenance on our offices in Wilson str, Knysna. These men worked hard the whole of Mandela Day to help us catch up on our snag list.

Porscha Wells (2nd from right) is one of our discharged patients who wanted to give back to Knysna Sedgefield Hospice for helping to restore her to full health. Porscha came along to our offices in Wilson str, Knysna with her team of four handy helpers (one of whom is the daughter of one of our current patients) to make the office windows sparkle on Mandela Day! Thank you Porscha and team!

The Knysna motor show, sponsored by Sanlam Private Wealth, and held on April 29,2018 was a phenomenal success. Not only was a high standard of awesome cars and motorcycles on display , with impeccable organisation, but a record crowd of more than 8000 people attended . We are delighted to advise that after accounting for the motor show expenses we were able to donate R116,000 to charity. The charities that benefited from this generous donation are, Knysna Sedgefield Hospice, Knysna Animal Welfare, E-PAP (NPO feeding scheme for under privileged children), FAMSA (NPO specialising in relationship counselling), Epilepsy, BADISA (Child protection organisation) , Change for Change (Looking after a group of destitute families) and the Sea Cadets. See the photo of the beneficiaries above. This donation has come at a time when all these charities are under tremendous funding pressures to meet the ever growing need for their services. Over the past 7 years the Knysna motor show has donated in excess of R500,000 to these charities.
This donation, from the proceeds of the Knysna motor show, has only been made possible through the support of our sponsors, all the participants who displayed their cars and motorcycles, the motor trade, the public that came from across South Africa and the dedication of members from the Garden Route Motor Club. We salute all of them with a big thanks.
We look forward to build on this success when next year’s Knysna motor show is held on Sunday April 28, 2019
