CFA Resource: Canned Foods = Better Nutrition for America’s Kids

A study published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics showed that kids who ate canned fruits and vegetables ate more fruits and vegetables overall, increased nutrient intake and enjoyed a better overall diet quality than those who did not consume canned fruits and vegetables. It makes sense to us – if you’re looking at an entire day, and you have access to a variety of fruits and veggies, it’s easier to eat more, rather than relying solely on fresh options.

As the kids head back to school this month, let’s all try to do our part in continuing to encourage increasing consumption of all forms of fruits and veggies – whether they are canned, fresh, frozen, dried or 100% juice.

Check out the CFA’s Canned Foods = Better Nutrition for America’s Kids Infographic for your use and reference.
