You are receiving this email because you told CKISS "YES I want to be a volunteer". Here is your chance to spend an hour or two outside while making a difference to local ecosystems. We are organizing a 'Community Weed Pull" during the ever so popular Toadfest event on August 22 and 23.
Come help us improve wildlife habitat by removing burdock that has invaded Summit Lake Provincial Park. We encourage you to come get your hands dirty, meet new people and assist CKISS with this important restoration project. You can find us at the front entrance of Summit Lake or at our outreach booth during Toadfest, event details can be found below. No pre-registration required, just show up! We will have shovels and gloves on hand for you to borrow or bring your own.
A big thanks to Columbia Basin Trust, BC Parks, the Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program & Environment Canada’s EcoAction Community Funding Program for their support.
** Please note that this portion of Toadfest may be postponed if there are toadlets in the restoration site**
TOADFEST 2018
Get hopping to the annual Toadfest event this year!
This free, fun, family event, organized by theFish & Wildlife Compensation Program, is a chance for you to learn more about Western toads. Wildlife specialists will be on hand to share with you their knowledge on the toad’s natural history, life cycle, and habitat needs.
Every year thousands of toadlets migrate from Summit Lake, cross a deadly highway, and make their way to the forested upland habitat. If the timing is right you may even get a chance to to carry toadlets across the road. In addition you can check out the displays from a variety of environmental organizations, and learn more about other animals too!
**The public are reminded not to carry toadlets across the road, outside of this event.**
