GGD Newsletter For August 1, 2018

This summer has been a whirlwind! Around this time last year, as we prepared to move from Texas to Florida, we wondered how often we'd get to see our friends and family once we relocated to a new state. I see now that my worries were unneeded. We've had absolutely no shortage of visitors during these tropical (see: HOT) summer months. On top of that, we've continued to travel ourselves, as well (back to Texas for a wedding this weekend, then off to Peru later this month). We've definitely been having a blast. But enough about us, what's been happening on GoGreenDollar?

In "Pancakes Cost More Than You Think", we broke down the true cost of extra spending. As you may have suspected from the title, the cost is higher than many folks think. We also showed how reducing expenses can be a much more effective strategy than increasing income when you are seeking financial independence. Monthly Financial Update (Full Breakdown):
The market is close to an all-time high level and that was reflected this month in our portfolio. We increased our net worth by 4.41% and have now saved 38.0% of what we need to retire!
