This course is designed to help people who are interested in or beginning to research their genealogy. The content is appropriate for all skill levels. This course will help with building research plans, identifying where and what to research, and how to organize and work with your findings. We will also cover using DNA in your research, as this is a valuable tool for all genealogists.Whether you work with online sources or on-site records, this course will help new and experienced genealogists to discover ways to improve their research and become more efficient.
This is a 4-hour interactive online course which will include two 15-minute breaks and a one-hour break for lunch.
Handouts will be provided.
Rick Fogarty is a professional genealogical researcher for Ancestry ProGenealogists. He is a third-generation genealogist with deep Oklahoma roots and a citizen of the Muscogee Creek Nation. He specializes in Native American tribal, adoption and unknown parentage, and DNA/forensic genealogical research. He has attended the Boston University forensic genealogy course, the Forensic Genealogy Institute genetic genealogy course, Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, and the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research at Samford University. He is a life member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. He currently serves on the board for the Oklahoma Genealogical Society.
