August Watering
It's monsoon season! If it rains 0.35 inches or more, turn that timer off and skip an irrigation cycle. In August, we may be miserable due to the increased humidity from the monsoon activity, but that doesn't mean our plants are.
Plants actually need less water in August than they did in June and July because of the high humidity. For instance, in August, Bermuda grass lawns can be watered once every 4 days. Shrubs and trees can be watered deeply, once every 5-15 days. Check out this publication for more in-depth recommendations on how to water your landscape. Oftentimes, we find that in order to get a nice deep soak, people need to run their irrigation system for more minutes (longer). The trade off is that you can water less often.
Think: deep watering, less often.
