Dean Boris D. Lushniak presided over the spring commencement ceremony at the Xfinity Center in May to recognize more than 600 SPH graduates. Deputy Surgeon General Sylvia Trent-Adams was the keynote speaker and Samiha Ahmed, BS, Public Health Science and Neurobiology and Physiology, was the student speaker.

Students in our Summer Training and Research (STAR) and Aging, Diversity and Professional Training (ADAPT) programs kicked off the summer with fun team-building activities on the UMD RecWell ropes course and a welcome from Dean Lushniak.

Photos: Center for Health Equity Hosts Building Trust Between Minorities and Researchers intensive workshop

More than 20 researchers from across the US came to UMD in June for the Building Trust workshop, which aims to strengthen the capacity of investigators, recruitment staff, and other research personnel to work effectively with minority communities.
Jacksonville Terps welcome Dean Lushniak
 
Jacksonville, Florida Terps gathered for a social event on July 23 featuring Dean Boris Lushniak speaking about his “Life as an (Acting) Surgeon General.” Alumni from diverse disciplines enjoyed the hospitality of kinesiology alumnus Kevin Clair, ’82, and his wife Tracye Polson who hosted the event at their home. Clair serves on School of Public Health’s Dean’s Council and is the former co-owner and President of the Health Solutions group of companies.
