Don't Blink

In the first miracle of Jesus, as written in John chapter 2: 1-11, Jesus turned over 100 gallons of water into wine at a wedding in Cana of Galilee.

We don’t know how big of a crowd was there. We do know, however, that a wedding celebration took between five to seven days in ancient Israel. Also, the whole town most likely would have been involved. The anticipated wedding was the culmination of a whole year of engagement called Betrothal. During that year, the bridegroom would prepare a house for his bride and negotiate the dowry for his already legal wife. In about a year’s time, the bridegroom, aided by his best man and joined by the whole town, would take the final journey to his in-law’s, where his bride had been preparing for the wedding night.

There are many important lessons in this first miracle of Jesus; however, one caught my attention recently. Jesus contributed generously to this celebration. Just like God’s Grace, it was generous, free, and unconditional. Jesus didn’t make a big fuss about it. The servants and the disciples were privileged to witness this subtle and yet meaningful miracle.

Sometimes the busyness of life, the task oriented ministries we are part of, or even our egocentric lives keep us from sensing God’s grace daily in our lives. We could be enjoying the generous, free, and unconditional grace of God but be unaware of it. Would you stop and think about God’s grace today? Have you experienced it? God wants to use you to show His love, Mercy, and Grace to others as well.

Children's Ministries - Summer 2018

This year many of our churches around the Kentucky and Tennessee Conference are engaged in Summer Children’s ministries using the Vacation Bible School approach. The North American Division is producing an Adventist version called: Vacation Bible Experience (VBX). Many of our churches are using it. If your church has not joint this ministry, consider hosting a VBX this summer, during your evangelistic series or even get an early start planning for next year. You can borrow the VBX kit from last year (Cactusville) or this year (Sea Of Miracles) along with the respective backdrop. Just let us know!

Public Campus Ministry

This is a great time to start making plans for next school year. August often marks the beginning of school for many students. Is your church contemplating starting a Public Campus Ministry? Are you a student and would like to start an Adventist Christian Fellowship (ACF) group in your campus? How could you connect with the new Adventist students coming to a public campus near you? Contact Pr. Nelson Silva with your questions.
