Women's Wisdom
We are now accepting applications for Women’s Wisdom, co-facilitated by Heidi Neilsen and Andrea Sentesy. Join six transformative groups, starting September 7-October 12 from 9:30am-2:30pm. Applications are available at the Women's Centre, or can be emailed by request. We look forward to another wonderful circle of women to join and connect.
This program is in memory of Aidan Oloman, made possible by the Oloman family.
Squamish Red Thread Women's Circle
“A Red Thread Circle begins with the passing of a physical ball of red thread that is wrapped around each woman's wrist to represent our deep interconnection, and the red in our blood that is traceable all the way back to ancient stars that were the beginning of all creation. From this place of sacred recognition, we move into inquiry and sharing. Each woman present is able to speak her truth, while the other women bear witness and receive the inspiration and beauty that resonates.”
This beautiful offering is led by our own Amber Gould. She will be facilitating bi-weekly Red Thread Women's Wisdom Circles. The next circle will be held on August 13 at Rose Park (38550 Loggers Lane) at 6:30 pm. Click here for more information.
Women's Centre Outreach
On Aboriginal Day, June 21, Whistler Women’s Centre outreach workers were invited to attend the Lower Lakes communities’ celebration and set up a pop-up women’s centre with information about our programs and services.
Expanding Services
The Women’s Centre is pleased to announce we our expanding our capacity to better serve women and children in Whistler/Pemberton and further north. The Women’s Centre has hired another PEACE counsellor for Whistler/Pemberton and an additional support worker for the Safe Home to better meet the needs of women and children in these communities.
Drop-In Yoga on Hold
A reminder the women’s yoga program is taking a temporary hiatus over summer break in both Squamish and Whistler. Squamish drop-in yoga classes will be resuming September 13.
Multicultural Outreach
Beginning on Thursday, August 2nd, Multicultural Outreach Services will be offered at The HotSpot, Squamish Settlement Services twice a month. The goal of this partnership is to broaden our reach into the immigrant communities of Squamish and to promote mutual understanding of the services offered and clients served by both organisations. The MOS worker will be available to meet, drop-in or by appointment, every second Thursday between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
