            Workshop: WATER & US - Considering the Waters entering US entering the Words.  Exploring correspondences between attributes of WATER and our human life & psyche. Generating a creative lexicon of words/images to enrich & expand our consciousness into our skills & Arts - poetics, writings, visual & musical. A collaborative adventure. 
            Walk: POETRY WALKS the WATERSCAPE of TEMENOS –
 ‘HOMAGE to the WATERS’
-  a guided  Walk via the WATERSCAPES of Temenos   accompanied by  readings from dedicated Nature Poets. Inspiring, delighting, and calling us to conscious, poetic action.

BODY SENSE - TAI CHI/QI GONG  - the ultimate exercise-art… Classes in Kleinmond are founded on Body Sense Alexander understanding and experience. 
 
LIMBERING LITHENESS Workshops– Challenging the extreme, often injurious & ineffective , modern ‘exercise & fitness’ cult, this is a 3 hr group workshop offering no-strain, easy, intelligent & meaningful  Natural Movements (‘exercising’) developed from Alexander work, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, daily life, & other. Giving ease, strength, suppleness, balance, power, enjoyment, calm, relaxedness in daily life. Our bodies are intricate, beautiful & intelligent - we do not need forcefulness or mindless repetitive punishing regimes!              
 
THE ART OF WALKING Workshops  (3 hr) 9h30-12h30 .

CONSCIOUS ATTENION – AWARENESS – ALERTNESS : The skills of an Alexander teacher. 

How do we attend consciously? When we attend, what we want is an in-the-moment form of general attention – not a ‘separated-aside practice’, but is spontaneous and open. You are simply noticing what’s around you, by being perceptually alert, awake and receptive, without effort. Without thinking, we are taking in our surroundings. Our mind quietens and we see the world around us …All our senses are working: we have stopped ‘doing’ and start ‘receiving’. We are quieting the motor system and waking up the sensory pathways. This is the kind of quiet attention that we need to allow as we (Alexander teachers) work… it means we can focus  the mind in a new way, can choose much more clearly what we want and what matters…

I think.. that these stages of consciousness are definable and understood as part of a continuum of our human potential and development… (and) that they should be treated as part of our normal educational development.

And who knows, maybe we’re ready for this !

Marguerite is a senior teacher of The Alexander Technique & Tai Chi, with 30 yrs experience in the mind-body-spirit domain. Author of ‘The Art of Walking – Path to Health & the Richness of Well-Being’. She conducts workshops, retreats and individual sessions throughout the country.
