We're seeing increased orders for clutch conversion kits for Mazda BT50s and Ford Rangers from the dual-mass fly-wheel style clutch (DMF) back to a single-mass fly-wheel (SMF). Even though a DMF is technologically more advanced and reduces drive-train noise, it wears out more quickly and is not machinable. Therefore, the driver has to buy a complete new DMF clutch. So when it's time for the owner to replace their clutch, some customers are converting the unit over to a SMF. This means that next time their clutch needs an overhaul, they can usually get away with just machining their fly-wheel and then buying a standard clutch kit.

Oh Lord, Won't You Buy Me A Mercedes-Benz?

I think we're only going to see more and more premium "lifestyle utes" from upmarket brands. Cadillac has its EXT but's it's a low-volume seller, even in the US. So Benz is at the forefront of this trend however, did they shoot themselves in the foot re-badging a Nissan Navara? A vehicle is all about the engine, right? So Mercedes has basically just dropped in a Navara engine. But this is where the plot thickens as the Navara engine they've chosen is a twin-turbo 2.3L diesel made not by Nissan, but by Renault.

So, it's a $64,500 Mercedes-Benz badged Nissan ute powered by a 4-cylinder Renault diesel however there will be a Benz powered V6 version released later this year. For me I think the damage is already done. The reputation for being a re-badged Navara will stick for a long time to come, regardless of its engine. Not to mention this Benz version comes with "pleather" or fake leather like in the C-Class models. Oh the humanity.
In saying this. I'd have one if you gave it to me. I'm not above accepting a free one. Just FYI.
