DUT Enactus

ENACTUS DUT STUDENTS ARE SOUTH AFRICAN CHAMPIONS!

Finally, a South African team is going to the World Cup! The Enactus team of students from the Durban University of Technology were crowned as the Enactus South African Champions at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg recently.

The DUT team will now represent South Africa at the 2018 Enactus World Cup in the USA from 9 to 11 October 2018. This is a historic achievement for DUT, as it is the first time that South Africa will be represented by a University of Technology in this prestigious international competition.

Munster workshop

DUT ACADEMICS SHARE THEIR EXPERTISE WITH GERMAN STUDENTS

Two academics from the Durban University of Technology’s Department of Food and Nutrition Consumer Sciences, Prof Carin Napier (HOD) and Mrs Evonne Singh (lecturer), were guest lecturers at the FH Munster University of Applied Sciences in Germany for nearly two weeks, between 11 and 20 June 2018.

They lectured 12 Bachelor and Masters degree students on the module, “South African culture, food and nutrition polices and security.”

DUT RESPONDS TO THE “THUMA MINA” CALL ON MANDELA DAY

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Faculty of Health Sciences participated in the Phoenix Settlement Trust’s (PST), Annual Mandela Day, celebrated at a local clinic in Bhambayi, Phoenix.

DUT in partnership with the Joint Medical Holding (JMH) and the Mahatma Gandhi Provincial Hospital, offered free medical healthcare to the community of Bhambayi, Phoenix. The theme for this outreach programme was “Thuma Mina” (send me).

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOP PROVIDES BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE TO DUT STUDENTS

With the Women’s Month, August only a week away, the Durban University of Technology’s Office of DVC Research, Innovation and Engagement in partnership with the Entrepreneurial Centre and Student Desk are hosting a Start-Up Week Workshop to inspire young women to start businesses.

Start-Up Week is designed and facilitated by Plan A. It gives University departments looking to nurture students interested in entrepreneurship a front row seat on what it means to start a business.

A SOLUTION TO UNEMPLOYMENT, POVERTY, INEQUALITY AND A STUTTERING ECONOMY

The South African Technology Network (SATN), a consortia of Technology Focused Universities, will be hosting an international conference focusing on the role of universities in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
