When “I Sight” Became “Jesus’ Eye Sight”

By Heidi Baumgartner, Washington Conference communication director

It was a week that started with averted eyes and ended up with Jesus' eyes.

Recently, I was one of four representatives from Washington Conference (plus two others in our national delegation) at a convention that focused on helping businesses and organizations make better decisions based on smart data. (We gained great knowledge and ideas to filter into our specific application.)

The convention location: oppressively hot and culturally excessive Las Vegas where the TBU (true but useless) statistic of the average adult seeing 5,000 marketing messages a day can quickly be over-saturated in minutes.

I remember praying as we walked to dinner for God's protection for my safety, my eyes, my ears, my nose, and my mind. The prayer was very inward focused and my eye sight was limited to about two feet in front of me.

Teachers Prepare for Encounters!

Western Washington teachers are preparing their new Encounter Bible curriculum for the coming school year with a work bee today!

Curriculum developer Lanelle Cobbin spent the last 11 years researching and creating Encounter, a discipleship-based approach to growing the faith of children from grades kindergarten to grade 12. Teachers spent two days with Cobbin this past February learning and interacting with the new curriculum in preparation for this school year!

The teachers will soon head off to Chicago, Illinois, for the NAD National Teacher’s Convention with over 6,000 other Adventist educators! Please continue to lift our teachers in prayer as they prepare for this educational event and the school year ahead!

Where on the road is Monte Saxby?

Skagit Adventist Academy math teacher Monte Saxby and his crew have completed day nine on their cycling trip to Chicago! The crew has cycled over 900 miles in the last few days battling wind, gravel roads, and mosquitoes! In Monte’s latest Instagram post, he reports they were consumed by mosquitoes almost immediately during their stop in Hinsdale, Mont.

Despite the aerial ambush of mosquitoes, the crew is doing well and appreciates your continued prayers as they journey to Chicago.
