Say Hello to Our New Website!

I'm ecstatic to introduce you to GFLF's new website! Designed and implemented by the talented team at Illuminated Development, I wanted the new site to provide not only high-quality regular blog content (which I'll continue to do), but also offer up completely free quality guides and useful resources, like the following:

  • For those looking to start a nonprofit, this Nonprofit Formation Guide is a must! It explains in detail the steps you'll need to go from mission idea to tax-exempt status, and beyond

  • Everyone needs an estate plan and this free Estate Plan Questionnaire helps make estate planning simplified and organized, and kicks the process off on the right note.

  • For professional advisors (such as financial planners, accountants, and insurance agents) I offer up this handy one-page guide explaining how GFLF works with advisors, using a team approach, to provide clients with an individualized, quality estate plan.

  • Nonprofit board members, staff, and other key stakeholders should download our Policy & Procedures Guide to learn about the policies and procedures that are important for top-notch compliance, as well as how they play into the annual information return, IRS Form 990

  • Also for nonprofit leaders, in particular those looking to implement wise employment practices, will enjoy this sample Employee Handbook which makes clear the rights and responsibilities of both employer and employee.

The site features a fresh, responsive look and easier navigation, so Iowans can better find the core services and information they need.
Other highlights include:

I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on the new site. The team at Gordon Fischer Law Firm is continuously working to improve the ways in which we make topics, like tax-wise charitable giving, more accessible and explained in "human terms" as opposed to confusing legalese.

As always, I appreciate you as a reader and invite you to share this monthly newsletter with someone else who may enjoy it! -Gordon Fi

Free Nonprofit Board Responsibility Guide

Each organization is unique, and each nonprofit benefits from individualized counsel on how to maximize board operations. But, there are general guidelines of good advice that apply across the board. (Ha! Get it?). To that point, I've created a resource explaining board duties, best practices, and legal and financial responsibilities that most all nonprofits can find useful.
