WHAT'S HAPPENING AT EvFREE – AUGUST 2, 2018

A LETTER FROM OUR PASTORAL STAFF

Dear EvFree Family,

When I’m asked what I enjoy most about where I work, no doubt my answer always includes something about the team I get to be a part of and the people I’m privileged to work alongside. There have been countless times when I’ve been so proud as I’ve watched a coworker shine in their area of ministry. And whether it’s a unique skill that they possess or the creativity or love with which they approach the task, what I’m really appreciating about them is the image of God that they bear.

As humans created in the Imago Dei or image of God, we are set apart from all other created things and beings and able to reflect certain qualities of God. And when we acknowledge that those around us have been made in His image as well, our eyes are opened to their unique qualities and the places where we see God in them. And the best part is that all of this brings Him glory!

As I was interviewing candidates for one of the positions we were hiring for recently, it struck me that all of the candidates I had interviewed each possessed the qualifications we had listed on our job description, yet each one was still so very unique. This speaks to the creativity of the God we serve and is one of the many reasons I enjoy my job getting to serve these humans, who most definitely are the best kind of resources.

You probably don’t work in a church, but wherever you work or spend your time, most likely you are also surrounded by the human type of resources –other image bearers. This week, as you notice their unique qualities and appreciate how they shine, remember that what you’re really appreciating is God’s workmanship and His very own qualities. And if you really want to see them shine.... tell them what you see.

Royal Family Kids Camp Update

I sat in the back of the amphitheater with tears streaming down my face, having given up on any attempt to hold them back. In front of me was Jesus. ‘He’ was wearing bright blue Royal Family Kids Camp shirts and sat cheering and laughing next to children from unspeakable backgrounds of hurt and abuse—children who at this moment were instead safe, loved and free to be kids.

Last year, we sent a camper home due to behavior outside of our ability to manage. This year, we gave her a chance to come back. After all, doesn’t God do that time and again in our lives? And as His redemptive story goes, she not only made it through the week but experienced breakthroughs we would never have thought possible. Truly a miracle. Thank you, EvFree, for making it possible for us to take 90 volunteers and 60 campers from the foster care system and love on them in Jesus’ name. Thank you to all who carried us in prayer throughout the week.

Thank you to all who give, making our camps and mentoring programs possible. On behalf of our campers and our volunteer staff, thank you church! Jesus is at work!     - Amy Gaw, RFK Camp Director

SHORT TERM MISSIONS

Vietnam Update

In 2010 a couple from EvFree Fullerton went back to their home country of Vietnam with a conviction in their heart of God’s calling to the ministry among the children and youth of Vietnam. Awana International was launched in Vietnam under their leadership. Since then 720 clubs have begun and are working within established churches. Seventy-five thousand children gather every week to learn and memorize Scripture. This couple committed to start the campaign “One Million Kids For Christ” (1MK4C). The goal is to reach 1,000,000 for Christ by 2020 to become godly leaders and who, in their generation, will change the nation of Vietnam.

On Sunday, June 17, a team of five led by Bambi & Gerry Encarnacion landed in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam. They spent a week teaching classes to 310 teens, training them to be leaders in their local Awana clubs. Below are highlights of the week:

• Hearing 310 teens singing and praising the Lord with joyful hearts.

• Listening to testimonies of how Christ changed their lives.
• 15 first-year attendees ask to receive Christ into their lives.
• Experiencing the power of prayer through Christ who transforms lives.

Please continue in prayer as the Campers take what they have learned back to their local Awana clubs, and for changed lives, as many children are the first to know Christ in their families.

PHOTO OF THE WEEK

This week has been so much fun seeing all of our campers, buddies, teen campers, and volunteers come together to put on Rainbow Express, a VBS for students with special needs. The theme for the week is “Trusting God’s Faithfulness in THE GREAT UNKNOWN" where students have been adventuring through Moses’ life.
