CALC's goal is to make it safer and easier for kids and families to walk, bike and use public transit. To learn more about CALC and get involved, visit: www.denverCALC.org.
Support Affordable Public Transit
Every 3 years, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) review’s its current fares to evaluate if a fare change is necessary. This year, a proposal formed by a 25-member Pass Program Working Group (PPWG) put forth a recommendation to be considered by the public and RTD’s Board to address transit affordability for low-income riders. The PPWG recommendation (also known as “Option 3”) is a proposal that would offer a 40% discount for families living under 185% of FPL (as carefully recommended and modeled by the PPWG), and an increased discount for youth.

Mayor Michael B. Hancock, in coordination with Denver Department of Public Health & Environment, Public Works, Office of Economic Development, Office of Children's Affairs, and more, released a statement letter to RTD supporting the PPWG recommendation to support safe, reliable, and affordable options for Denver residents. Read the support letter on our blog.

Share YOUR opinion through public input, and contact your RTD board member.

CALC Victory Lap Bike Tour

Thanks to the amazing folks who joined our Victory Lap Bike Tour in June! We got to check out some of the projects we completed and visit with partners and collaborators. Riders visited community murals to support health and biking at Denver Public Health, rode to the Ross-Broadway Branch Library to see one of the new fix-a-flat tool kits, and stopped by La Alma Recreation Center's collaborative community mural mosaic, "La Alma De La Tierra." The four-mile, all ages ride ended with socializing and food at the Molecule Effect. Check out the pictures on Facebook

Stay tuned for our next bike tour in August - an infrastructure ride with Public Works to tour some new biking facilities in Denver

Uplifting our Voices: A Youth Leadership Celebration

The PHD Youth Team hosted a powerful youth leadership celebration in May entitled "Uplifting our Voices." The event included 11 digital stories created by youth in Denver, with topics ranging from social justice, transit, art, body image, and more. Read more from Sedona Allen, the youth advisor who helped ideate and organize the event, on our blog! You can also check out all of the digital stories on YouTube.
