Devotion

I have two dear friends with completely opposite personalities. One is an optimist who sees God’s work and presence everywhere she looks. The other is a pessimist who only sees God’s absence wherever he looks. Having these two dear, dear friends is like juxtaposing Psalm 139 and Psalm 22 (this is the hint to read these two psalms back-to-back). My two friends and the writer(s) of these two psalms are deeply honest and straightforward in how they each understand what they see and experience.  Even though both of these two friends begin in different places, the wonder is they both arrive at the same place—just as the writer(s) of Psalm 139 and Psalm 22.

Could God indeed be at work in our midst? See you in worship—
