David S. Martinez
Dear La Trinidad Family,
Many of you know that Sunday morning August 12, 2018, after attending the 9:45 AM Spanish worship service and greeting those who were arriving to the 11 AM service, "in the twinkling of an eye" (1 Cor. 15:52) God called brother David home to glory in the presence of his daughter Hermila Garza and son David Martinez, extended family, several pastors, and church family.
We were blessed to have celebrated his 102nd birthday at the beginning of the month and deeply honored by his testimony and consistent devotion to the ministry of La Trinidad UMC. David attended church regularly even while being under the care of hospice.
Born August 30, 1916 in Zacatecas, Mexico David S. Martinez is survived by his brother Juan S. Martinez, children Sara, Leonel (Marcelina), Rosalina, Hermila, Elvia, Benito (Estela), Imelda (Valentin), Raul (Patricia), David, 40 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
David’s family will be receiving visitors at Southside Funeral Home (6103 S. Flores St.) on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 5-9pm with a funeral service to be held at 7pm.
