Our goal is to improve resource 'findability', tracking and reuse!
How do we get there? Adding RRIDs to all stocks described in a paper and linking papers back to your web pages
This month, as a successful resource directors meeting draws to a close, we wanted to summarize RRID activities for the year and to encourage all resource centers to work toward the goal of enabling better tracking through the use of the RRID syntax.
Where are we now? How many RRIDs are used per species?
Where is the RRID data for my stock center?
The number of RRIDs used in papers is shown. The green bars indicate the presence of the RRID syntax on stock center web pages. Putting the RRID syntax on your webpages seems to help authors use them.
Some nice examples: Cellasaurus, BDSC, and MMRRC.
As we described in the May newsletter, although linking to the stock center is a one click solution to getting scientists to your resource, unfortunately not all journals typeset RRIDs, but the numbers are increasing and this moves us closer to the goal of maximizing the exposure to valuable resources available to the research community.
