Welcome to the Lutheran School of Lexington Newsletter! We will do our best to get this out weekly. We are so glad to have you as part of our school family! Please be sure to share this newsletter and have your friends and family subscribe (link is at the bottom).
Ecclesiastes 4:9-11 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone?

Notes from the Teaching Staff:
Some of you may be wondering why the first letter of the alphabet we are focusing on is L, and not A. Our teachers use concepts from the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. Handwriting Without Tears is a developmentally appropriate, multi-sensory approach to early writing. The letters are introduced in an order that matches the progression of children’s developmental abilities so that it is easier for them to practice, learn, and remember.

HOMEWORK: Each week we ask that you send in at least one piece of environmental print that includes the Letter of the Week. Environmental print is the print of everyday life. It's the name given to the print that appears in signs, labels, and logos. Examples include street signs, cereal boxes, clothing labels and business logos; snap a photo, send in a newspaper clipping or a food wrapper.
MONTHLY MISSION: Each month LSL will encourage donations to help others. September's donation is: greeting cards for the elderly. Help bring cheer through a fun, heartfelt, or encouraging greeting card to give to someone at a senior care place.
NOTES and PICTURES:
Most notes home and pictures of your student will be sent electronically through Brightwheel (use your desktop or mobile app). Please also regularly check our Facebook page for daily pictures as well. We are so excited to see all the fun ways that your child is learning at LSL!

Home Practice
Practice being a good friend at home!
Things to encourage your child to do:
  • Help with setting the table.
  • Say something kind to a family member.
  • Share a healthy snack.
  • Go to bed when asked.
  • Say "I am sorry" when we hurt another.
Resources and Activities:
Sing or read What a Friend we have in Jesus:
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
