1. UBAR, THE DOCK ON STEROIDS:

We all live with the Dock at the bottom or to one side of our Mac Desktop, but it is quite limited. If you want a more powerful version with customisable controls then Ubar may be for you.

The Dock can be expanded up to 5 bars, you can group applications and of course keep your favourites, ie most used, together. Not that cheap at US$50 but far advanced
over the standard Dock which has been around for ages without many modifications.

2. MAKE YOUR OWN RINGTONES - FREE:

This website is simple to use - drag the piece of music onto the box, trim and edit and save the Ringtone.

Just be careful and only use the controls specified or you will trigger adverts! Well, it is free...

3. MERGE PDFs - FREE:

From the same mob as Ringtone Maker is a very handy website to merge PDFs, something that we all need to do now and then.

4. PHOTOBULK - BATCH PROCESS IMAGES:

As more and more of us get involved with the ever increasing skill set that modern life requires we might need to batch process images, ie perform actions on a whole heap at once.

This app can do heaps of things to a folder full of your images: add watermarks to them, resize them, add text, rename etc.

Photobulk can do this to hundreds at a time saving
lots of your precious life minutes for $15.

5. INFINITY DASHBOARD:

Another app that we couldn't have even imagined needing a few short years ago when life was simple, it will keep checking a variety of things so you don't need to do it manually.

Things like stock prices, anniversaries, website stats, ie how many likes have you had on
FaceBook or more pertinently how many clicks has your website had?

You can customise Notifications so it alerts you when certain things occur such as when Chelsea win a match. (oh no I'm already all over that one). US$15.

6. TWEETFAST:

If you use Twitter and work at your Mac then this might be for you. Compose tweets from whatever you are using without having to leave the movie you are watching or work you are doing with Tweetfast. And only $3.

7. A SPECIAL CLIPBAORD MANAGER:

The basic Mac Clipboard is limited to one item at a time and who hasn't needed to copy something and then re-copy something else? The basic Clipboard deletes the first item so you need to re-copy it. There are some free Clipboard managers but they are usually limited to around 50 items.

Paste 2 remembers everything you've copied: images, text, web addresses etc increasing productivity and reducing frustration for $23 and it syncs across your other devices too.

8. FARRAGO, A NEW SOUND EDITOR AIMED AT PODCAST MAKERS:

This US$50 app is for people who do podcasts or radio shows and the like. It makes the professional sounding integration of jingles, sound clips and any audio source easy to control.

It is from Rogue Amoeba who make other well known apps like Audio Hijack so it works well and is stable.

9. ARE YOU GETTING THE 'STARTUP DISK IS FULL' ALERT MESSAGE?:

Many modern laptops are a little short of space - hard drive capacity, so you might fill them up and then get the dreaded alert about your Startup Disk being full.

This free app, Startup Disk Full Fixer looks through the computer and cleans out files you don't need to grab back a little space. It just might keep you going...
